Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy: It’s Not Tongue Thrust Therapy

OMT “could really be considered rest posture therapy.” Teeth move under light, constant pressure — not intermittent heavy force. Swallowing totals only about 20 minutes a day; if the tongue rests low and forward the other 23.5 hours, appliances that only block the swallow never fix the real problem.
