Common Questions
Good to know.
A few of the questions we hear most. Don't see yours? Browse the Learning Center or reach out — we'd love to help.
What is orofacial myofunctional therapy?
It's a personalized program of gentle neuromuscular exercises that retrain the muscles of the tongue, lips, and face so they rest and function properly — supporting breathing, swallowing, speech, and oral development.
Who can benefit from therapy?
Children, teens, and adults. Early intervention is powerful while growth patterns are forming, but it's never too late — many adults find relief from lifelong breathing, swallowing, or jaw concerns.
Do I need a referral to be seen?
No. Anyone can book a consultation directly. We also welcome referrals from dentists, orthodontists, ENTs, speech-language pathologists, and other providers.
What kinds of concerns do you help with?
Mouth breathing, tongue and lip ties, tongue thrust, TMJ and jaw pain, snoring and sleep-disordered breathing, thumb/finger/pacifier habits, swallowing and feeding difficulties, and speech support — for every stage of life.
Are visits in person?
Evaluations are always in person — face-to-face at our York or Bird in Hand (Lancaster County) office so we can truly see, assess, and understand. Once your evaluation is complete, teletherapy is available for therapy sessions.
Do you accept insurance?
We don't accept insurance — but HSA and FSA cards are welcome, and we offer payment plans to keep care accessible.
How long does therapy take?
It depends on your goals and patterns. After your evaluation we build a personalized plan with clear milestones and short, repeatable exercises, with coaching every step of the way.
Do you work with my dentist or orthodontist?
Absolutely. We collaborate as part of your care team and share progress notes so everyone stays aligned — we never work in a silo.
How do I get started?
Book a consultation online or give us a call — no referral required. We'll listen to what you're noticing and help you find the best next step, with no pressure or obligation.
Still have a question?
We're happy to help you figure out whether myofunctional therapy is the right fit — no pressure, no obligation.
